Brett played one year at Archbishop Jordan High School in Sherwood Park before joining the Junior Edmonton Wildcats for several years and concluded his career at the University of Saskatchewan and winning the Vanier Cup in 1998. 

Hi coaching career started out as the D-Line coach for the Sherwood Park Bantam Rams in 1999, coaching with ex CFL’er Dan Bass Sr. and winning the 1999 Alberta Bantam Football championship. Next he took on roles of Head Coach and Defensive Co-ordinator for the Henry Wisewood Jr. and Senior High School team from 2000-2007. During this tenure, Brett was fortunate to reach the city final 3 years in a row and won the 2006 Senior Football City Championship. Lastly, in 2007, Brett was the DB coach for Team South at the Football Alberta High School All Star game. 

Brett believes in coaching solid football fundamentals, but also believes in coaching the person, giving the athlete the necessary skills to be successful on the field but also to be successful in the game of life.
